Practical English I
This is an English communicative course designed for freshman students at Hyupsung University. The main purpose of the course is to give students the practical conversational tools necessary to converse in everyday situations, as well as the ability to solve problems using critical thinking skills. Topics will range from using everyday English to book airplane tickets and hotel rooms to more complex situations such as job interviews and group problem-solving.
Practical English II
In the second part of my Practical English series, the goal of this course is to improve student's speaking abilities by focusing on vocabulary (lexis) rather than grammar. During the semester, students will learn how to identify chunks (phrases that are used by native speakers in conversations) and use them in everyday situations. Topics will include getting through customs at an airport to understanding Western take-out menus.
